Learn to Auto

Our first steps into climbing routes. Auto belays are mechanical devices that allow you to climb on our big walls without a belayer. You simply clip in and climb on. A simple first step in your journey to learn to climb!

In this short class, we will teach you everything you need to know about using the devices safely. Run by our qualified instructors in small classes every week, you can book on and we will get you climbing right away.

Once you have done the class you will be signed off to use the auto belays at Big Depot unsupervised. Which means you can come down anytime and climb using them, with or without your friends.

Participants usually require one class to become proficient auto belay climbers and move on to Learn to Belay.

£20 per person, per class.

Price includes entry and equipment hire.

Classes need to be booked in advance and can be done online, over the phone, or at the centre.

There is also an option for block booking and booking multiple weeks in advance.

This does not have to be consecutive weeks, if there is a week you cannot make, then as long as Big Depot Climbing Centre knows in advance, the bookings can be rolled over to a different date.

All classes are on a first-come first served basis. You can book as many weeks as you like in order to save your spot.
